Quiet time with Jesus is beautiful. Reading your Bible, a devotional, a moment of prayer — all of it matters. 📖
But here’s the thing most of us miss:
Faith wasn’t meant to stay in the chair.
Practicing the Presence — the timeless message of Brother Lawrence — reminds us that the goal was never just a morning routine. It’s a whole life lived with Jesus in it.
It looks like this:
👉 Focusing on Him first and foremost
👉 Listening to anything He has to say
👉 Sharing your heart — your concerns, your needs, your worship
👉 And then when you leave that chair — He gets up with you and goes everywhere with you
That’s the difference between a quiet time and a lifestyle.
Not just inviting Jesus into your morning — but into your commute, your kitchen, your hard conversations, your ordinary Tuesday. All of it.
That’s what Practicing the Way by John Mark Comer unpacks so beautifully — and why it’s the book we’re reading together this month on The Encouraging Word.

When Hurricane Eric tore through Teresa’s community in Mexico, her family feared they wouldn’t survive the night. Their roof was ripped away, leaving them exposed and afraid.
Thanks to Operation Blessing supporters, more than 800 metal roofing sheets were delivered to families impacted by the storm. Today, Teresa’s family has a safe roof over their heads and renewed hope for the future.
“I’m so grateful to everyone who helped,” Teresa shared. ❤️
