Finnish cross-country skier Krista Pärmäkoski won her third personal medal in the 2018 Winter Olympics on Sunday with a second-place finish in the 30 kilometre classic.

She had previously won two bronze in the South Korea games: first in the opening 15 km skiathlon event and the second in the 10 km free.

Norwegian ski legend Marit Björgen won the gold in Sunday's race, breaking away early and leading by over a minute at the halfway point. The win makes the 37-year-old the most decorated Winter Olympian in history, with 16 medals to her name.

Pärmäkoski crossed the finish line 1.49,5 minutes behind Björgen, and Finland's Kerttu Niskanen came in sixth, after a fierce fight for fifth place with Sweden's Charlotte Kalla. Rookie Johanna Matintalo came in 18th and Aino-Kaisa Saarinen came in 20th.
