Wintertime visitors to Korkeasaari Zoo were pleasantly surprised to see two female bruins lumber out of their dens on Thursday morning.
Zoo officials said that the bears were experienced residents at 16 and 11 years old.

Thursday morning’s blood-curdling cold did not seem to deter the female bears from venturing out of their cosy retreats.
Zookeepers explained that the animals were lured outside by the increased light more than anything else.
Last year, the zoo’s bruins put in an appearance in mid-February.
