Prime Minister Sanna Marin will begin working from home as a precautionary measure after a worker at the prime ministerial residence was found to have been in contact with a person infected with coronavirus, her office announced on Thursday.
Marin, who is symptom free, was informed late Wednesday that one of the workers at the PM’s residence, Kesäranta, is now in quarantine after someone close to them tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Although neither the prime minister, her family or her close circle of staff has come into contact with the worker, the decision for Marin to self isolate has been taken as a precaution “for the time being,” and will be tested for the virus, her office said in a statement.
The prime minister will remain at Kesäranta and continue to work as normal, remotely joining the EU ministerial committee, parliament’s grand committee and a European Council meeting on Thursday, her office said.
