The Drug Unit of the Helsinki Police Department has completed the preliminary investigation into the suspected case of import and distribution of an unusually large consignment of methamphetamine. It is suspected that over 30 kilograms of the drug was brought into Finland during 2010.

Police discovered over 20 kg of methamphetamine in a forest area in eastern Helsinki at the end of December 2010. This was one of the biggest drug consignments ever seized in Finland.

According to the preliminary investigation, the same perpetrators distributed over 10 kg of methamphetamine earlier in 2010. A Lithuanian sold the substances to buyers located in Finland, the investigation indicates.

The amount of methamphetamine in the discovered consignment would be enough for over 100,000 doses.

The case will proceed to consideration of charges in the next few days.
