Police Raid Helsinki Strip Clubs in Search for Illegal Foreign Workers

Police in Helsinki raided four night clubs in the city late Friday in a search for illegal foreign workers. Some 90 people were questioned, of whom 22 women were taken into custody for a short time. Three of the clubs offered striptease performances.

The identification papers and residence permits were examined of those detained.

One person was deported to Estonia, where she is in possession of a permanent residence permit.

Police say most of the women questioned were Russians. Others were Estonian although about ten were Finns.

The clubs raided were Alcatraz, Soho, Gentleman’s Club and K24.
