Finance Ministry Sets Up Taxation Working Group

Minister of Finance Jyrki Katainen has appointed a working group to review taxation in Finland. At a press conference in Helsinki on Thursday, Katainen said he thinks income tax could be cut in the future.

Katainen said lowering income tax would improve purchasing power. The Finance Minister added that the environmental tax could go up in the future.

The working group is expected to propose tax reforms that will support economic growth and the funding of public services and benefits. The group will also review taxation structural changes.

Martti Hetemäki, the permanent under-secretary at the Finance Ministry, will chair the working group.
