Days in Finland will now begin to shorten while nights grow longer.

On the autumnal equinox, the sun is vertically above the equator and moves southward from the northern to the southern hemisphere. In the southern hemisphere, this marks the spring equinox, representing the beginning of spring and increasing daylight.

This year’s winter solstice falls on December 21. This day is simultaneously the summer solstice in the southern hemisphere.
