The "Light Not Violence" events are being held in 30 municipalities. Women's organisations will be handing out candles and information about violence against women.

In Helsinki, a "Silent Witness" event is being performed for the first time in Finland. The event commemorates the lives of women that were lost through violence.

Minister of Health and Social Services Paula Risikko will also be on hand to accept a petition signed by around 2,000 people demanding the government guarantee funding for Tyttöjen Talot, or Girls' Houses, where young women can go to get advice and support on everything from sexual concerns to loneliness.
