A day earlier, the daily Helsingin Sanomat said that the Finnish airline Finncomm would cancel several domestic routes, linking Helsinki with Pori, Jyväskylä and Seinäjoki.
The airline has declined to confirm the report, but noted that the routes have long been unprofitable.
Vehviläinen said that it might be possible to open the Seinäjoki and Pori routes up to bids from other airlines, as they are now only flown by Finncomm. Finnair also flies the Jyväskylä route.
Prime Minister Mari Kiviniemi declined to comment on the issue on Sunday.
