The accused 22 year-old could face a 15 year jail sentence unless the court decides he is unaccountable for his actions.

During initial investigations into the shooting, the suspect was declared to be of unsound mind. However, a final decision will be taken by the Pirkanmaa District Court in Tampere.

The accused is charged with attempted murder, attempted manslaughter, unlawful threats and causing danger to the public.

He has denied the attempted murder charge.

In March, the young man burst into the Orivesi Comprehensive School and fired into a room where his ex-girlfriend was in class. No-one was hurt. Earlier the man injured the girl's father at another nearby location.
