Last tune for ice cream truck

The powder blue vans are making their final rounds as Finns' taste for ice cream dwindles, reports Helsingin Sanomat.

Falling profits are pushing most of the country’s ice cream trucks off the road, said Nestle, which operates the vehicles in Finland.

The trucks will sound their signature melody for the last time on December 23. But in some parts of southern Finland, ice cream trucks will continue rolling up on curbs though next summer.

Ice cream trucks were introduced in Finland in 1993. Some 80 vans have operated in summer and 50 have served up scoops during the cold season.
