Metro services were closed over the weekend to allow for the installation of new signaling equipment. However, a technical fault has disrupted trains since the early morning.
Faults have occurred on platform display boards and drivers have had to announce station names manually.
The problems stem from last weekend’s upgrade work aimed at permitting a fully automated metro service in the future. The new equipment controls, for example, points and informs the driver when the line is clear.
Both signaling manufacturer Siemens and Helsinki City Transport are working to correct the fault which was located on Monday. Services should be back to normal on Tuesday.
