The original decision of the District Court, requiring DNA to prevent access to the servers and website of the infamous file-sharing site, was made in June last year. The order was carried out by removing domain names and IP addresses from DNA servers and made service providers liable for hefty fines for non-compliance.
The Finnish branch of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, IFPI Finland, is behind the Pirate Bay block. The organisation represents music giants EMI, Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music and Warner Music Finland.
The Court of appeal today decided that the decision could not be overturned and that court costs for the appeal were unrecoverable, to be paid in full by the telecommunications provider.
DNA has until April 9 to apply for leave to take the matter to the Supreme Court.
