Finnair cuts 290 technical operations jobs

Finnair has concluded employee consultations in its technical operations organization and will be dismissing 290 personnel, most by the end of the year.

At the start of the talks in March, the airline estimated that it would be cutting 310 of the 900 jobs in the organization. The lower figure follows a decision to retain brake and wheel repairs operations in-company.

Last year Finnair outsourced its engine and component services to SR Technics.  Heavy maintenance of Airbus wide body aircraft is handled by maintenance partners in Asia.
