A spokesman for the fire and rescue service said the man had climbed up scaffolding that was next to a wall of the station, and refused to come down. The man then allegedly attempted to evade the rescuers by climbing onto the roof, when a rescue worker attempted to reach him using a lifting platform.

Rescuers say the man again slipped away by running the length of the roof. Finally he slipped between the wall of the building and the glass canopy roof covering the platforms, and became lodged by his waist. He was finally apprehended by the authorities and brought back down to the street, where he was handed over to waiting police.

No reason for the incident was ascertained. According to the rescue services, the man survived the ordeal with no physical damage, although they claimed passers by on the street below were put in danger as the authorities did not have time to cordon off the area.

The rescue services received a call that a man had climbed onto scaffolding at the station around 14.45. The man’s capture and retrieval down to street level took approximately half an hour.
