SAK Chair Lauri Lyly stressed on Monday that at this stage his union confederation will only commit itself to participating in preparatory talks. The SAK will not agree to establishing any set percentage for a target of how much competitiveness is to be improved. It is also rejecting any extension of working hours.
"A possible social contract assumes that everyone is treated equally. Businesses and their owners must participate in the agreement with the same intensity expected of wage earners," the SAK board stated in a Monday press release.
The union confederation of salaried employees STTK, and the white-collar academic trade union confederation Akava have previously announced that they are ready to take part in talks.
