Finland has sent more material assistance to the Turkish and Syrian areas ravaged by the earthquakes that hit on 6 February, the Ministry of the Interior announced on Tuesday.

The aid package included tents, blankets, heaters and dried food.

Such supplies are "acutely needed in the affected area," the ministry wrote in its release, adding that the earthquakes' devestating aftermath took the lives of more than 50,000 people and continued to affect millions.

"Millions of people are trying to cope with difficult conditions in the region, and there is a great need for more assistance. Finland has responded by sending emergency accommodation, heating and food,” of Interior Minister Krista Mikkonen said.

Finland also previously provided emergency assistance shortly after the earthquakes hit, including a team of rescue and tech experts as well as emergency accommodation.
