Finland's president headed to Turkey

In addition to post-quake reconstruction, the countries' presidents are also to discuss Finland and Sweden's pending Nato membership.

Finnish President Sauli Niinistö will make a working visit to Turkey on Thursday and Friday, according to the president's office.

At the beginning of his trip, President Niinistö will visit the area affected by the earthquake in south-eastern Turkey.

On Friday, the President will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul.

In addition to post-quake reconstruction, the leaders' discussions will focus on the geopolitical situation, bilateral relations as well as Finland and Sweden's pending Nato membership applications, the office said.

Niinistö's delegation will include Finland's Minister for Foreign Affairs Pekka Haavisto (Green).
