Sunny and dry weather will continue throughout Finland over the next few days, but the mercury isn't climbing to the country's elusive 25-degree-Celsius heat threshold at the beginning of the week, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI).
Forecasts show a high pressure area building and warm air moving from the southwest towards Finland. At the beginning of the week, temperatures are expected to widely reach above 20 degrees Celsius.
Next Wednesday is forecast to be Finland's first "hot" day. Temperatures may climb to 26-27 degrees Celsius in southern and western parts of the country. Eastern regions may also come close to experiencing a Finnish heatwave midweek.
Lapland may see some clouds as well as showers in the coming days. Cooler air from the north may also flow into parts of Lapland on Tuesday, causing temperatures to drop to around 15 degrees Celsius.
With the weather warming up in a large part of the country, the FMI advises people to keep the dryness of the terrain in mind. Forest fire warnings are in force for most of the country as of Wednesday.
