A flight aimed at evacuating Finnish and Swedish nationals out of Israel was cancelled due to a technical problem with the aircraft, according to Jussi Tanner, the foreign ministry's director general of consular services.

Tanner announced news of the cancellation on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier on Friday, Tanner announced that Finland was cooperating with Sweden to arrange a third flight out of the war-ravaged region.

Tanner noted in the previous post that changes to the plans were possible until the last minute, but that all Finnish citizens who need to leave the country will be offered the opportunity to do so.

This item was updated to reflect that Friday's evacuation flight was cancelled.
