Hundreds of asylum seekers have arrived at Finland's eastern border in the last few months. Normally fewer than a hundred would be expected over the whole year, and Finnish authorities suspect this may be down to a hybrid operation from Russia.

Can Finland close the Russian border?

Henri Vanhanen, a Research Fellow at the Finnish Institute for International Affairs, told APN that the situation at the border might recur now that Finland is a Nato member.

"I think this is something that we have to get used to as being a member of the alliance something that Russia perceives as hostile," said Vanhanen.

We also answer one listener's query about the division between ski tracks and walking paths in the Finnish winter, discovering just how sacred cross-country skiing is for Finns.
