A new poll for the Uutissuomalainen outlet suggests that Pekka Haavisto leads the field in voting preference for the first round.
Haavisto, the Green MP running as an independent backed by voter nominations, had the backing of some 24 percent of those polled. In second spot was National Coalition candidate Alexander Stubb on 21 percent.
Finns Party candidate Jussi Halla-aho was in third spot on ten percent.
The gap between Haavisto and Stubb has narrowed since the previous Uutissuomalainen poll, which was conducted in September and had an eight percentage point gap between the top two.
This reflects a change in other polls, with Yle's latest survey showing Stubb overtaking Haavisto to lead the field.
Finland goes to the polls on 28 January to elect a new president to replace Sauli Niinistö, who has served two full terms in office.
If no candidate gets 50 percent or more of the vote, the top two candidates will go to a second round run-off on 11 February.
The Uutissuomalainen poll was conducted by Tietoykkönen, which interviewed 1,000 people between 14 and 23 November.
The margin of error was +- 3.1 percentage points.
