A large-scale strike planned by unions for Thursday 1 February will mean many daycare centres across Finland will be closed, tabloid Iltalehti has reported.
This follows a decision by the Early Childhood Education Teacher´s Union of Finland to join the planned walkout and demonstration.
Trade unions in various fields have already announced plans to participate in the political strike in the first two days of next month, with the Industrial Union saying on Thursday that some 60,000 of its members at 700 locations will walk out for two days starting on 1 February.
Earlier this week, two of Finland's largest trade union federations, SAK and STTK, unveiled plans to stage a demonstration against the government's proposed reform of labour market laws.
Construction union joins strike
Separately on Friday, the Finnish Construction Trade Union said it will also be joining the political strike on 1-2 February.
The announcement will affect members in the capital region, and is likely to affect work at about 40 percent of housing construction sites.
Similar announcements are also expected in the coming days from the Paperworkers' Union, the Transport Workers' Union AKT and the white-collar Akava confederation.
