The National Coalition Party's presidential candidate, Alexander Stubb, is still leading but has lost ground to Pekka Haavisto (Independent/Green), according to Helsingin Sanomat's latest support survey.

The newspaper's latest poll found Stubb receiving 54 percent of support from respondents, with Haavisto getting 46 percent backing.

Respondents were asked whom they would vote for if the second round of the presidential election were held now.

Compared to the paper's previous presidential election poll, Stubb's lead has narrowed by a few percentage points. Last week's HS survey found support for Stubb at 57 percent, and 43 percent for Haavisto.

Male respondents were more likely to support Stubb while females more commonly supported Haavisto, according to HS.

The election's first round was on 28 January, when Stubb received 27.2 percent of the vote while 25.8 percent voted for Haavisto, leading the pair to the second round which is scheduled for Sunday 11 February.

Advance voting in the second round ends on Tuesday.

The survey was commissioned by Helsingin Sanomat and was carried out online by polling firm Verian on 2-4 February. It queried 1,154 people over the age of 18 across Finland, with the exception of Åland. It had a margin of error of 2.9 percentage points in either direction.
