The service sector union PAM has announced plans for a three-day political strike to take place from 14-16 February.
The walkout will impact workers at 19 logistics centres around the country, with potential knock-on effects on supplies to supermarket chains including S-Group, Kesko and Lidl.
In a press statement released on Tuesday afternoon, the union said that about 10,000 workers will take part in the strike.
The release added that the action is a follow-up to the large-scale strikes of last week, as the "Orpo-Purra government has not listened to the workers' cry for help".
The Industrial Union is also planning three days of work stoppages from 14-16 February, involving around 60,000 employees at a multitude of companies across the country.
The unions are protesting against plans to make changes to labour market laws as well as cuts to social security, with Industrial Union chair Riku Aalto saying last week that the government is "still not showing any willingness to listen to workers".
Retailers: No need to hoard
Jyrki Tomminen, head of logistics with the Kesko group, told Yle that the three-day strike will not lead to supermarkets shelves being empty of stock.
"Only some individual product shortages are likely to occur," Tomminen said, adding that stocks of fruit and vegetables are most likely to be affected.
"We will try to replenish the stores before the strike and to some extent during the strike," he said. "Customers have no need to hoard, and the situation will return to normal quickly after the strike."
Sampo Päällysaho of the S Group meanwhile said that it is still too early to assess the potential impact of the strike.
"We have just been informed of the strike. We are not yet in a position to accurately assess the impact of the strike on the flow of goods to our outlets," Päällysaho wrote to Yle in an email, but noted that the chain's stores would endeavour to keep shelves stocked despite the walkout by logistics workers.
