Southern and central areas of Finland will get a good deal of snow on Friday, with up to 10 cm of snowfall anticipated along the south coast, according to Yle meteorologist Nina Karusto.

Road conditions will be poor during the afternoon rush hour in many areas. The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has issued warnings for dangerously slippery roads in Uusimaa and potentially hazardous roads in many other areas across southern Finland on Friday.

The precipitation system is expected to head northeast on Friday night.

Yle's weather forecast for Friday (Perjantai), Saturday (Lauantai) and Sunday (Sunnuntai).

Conditions will be partly cloudy across southern Finland on Saturday, with the FMI forecasting cloudier conditions in the southeast. Temperatures in those areas will range from 0 to 3 degrees Celsius, while it will likely be between -1 to -7 degrees further north.

Conditions in many areas will be "horrible" on Sunday, according to meteorologist Karusto, with up to 15 cm of new snow expected in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu.

That precipitation will likely come in the form of rain in southern Finland, while it will be a sloppy mixture of snow — and then rain — in central areas.

Looking towards next week, temperatures will rise to 10 degrees in southern and central areas, but Lapland will likely see snow on Monday.

Temperatures may rise as high as 15 degrees on Tuesday in some areas, according to Karusto.
