The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will visit Finland's eastern border region on Friday 19 April.
Von der Leyen will meet with Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (NCP) in the eastern Finnish city of Lappeenranta, the PM's office said in a press release.
"President von der Leyen and Prime Minister Orpo will discuss what Finland and the EU can do to prevent instrumentalised migration to Finland’s eastern border," the press release stated.
The statement added that Orpo and von der Leyen will travel to Finland together for Friday's meeting following the conclusion of a European Summit in Brussels.
The agenda for their meeting will also include a discussion about "the growing challenges Russia’s war of aggression poses for the vitality of Eastern Finland" as well as a variety of key EU issues, such as the security situation in Europe and the EU's competitiveness.
