Vaasa YouTuber Paqpa (real name Beata Rodas) has been handed a 10 month suspended prison sentence for aggravated tax fraud as well as accounting crimes.

The offences took place in 2019-2020. The charges state that Rodas failed to declare some 182,000 euros of income to the tax authorities, saving her an estimated 80,000 euros.

Rodas stated on her channel on Thursday that she had been unaware of her obligations as an entrepreneur.

She had not produced any accounts at all during that period, according to the prosecutor.

"I had an accounting problem due to my own carelessness," said Rodas. "Tax declarations were also late. I didn't deliberately fail to do anything."

Rodas is one of the most popular Finnish-language YouTubers. Her gaming and lifehack channel has more than 385,000 subscribers, and produces videos aimed at breaking down preconceptions about girls' gaming.

In 2020 Paqpa had the second highest income of all Finnish influencers, pulling down 225,000 euros over the year.
