The Olkiluoto 3 nuclear reactor began generating electricity again on Monday night, operator Teollisuuden Voima (TVO) has confirmed.
Production was suspended on Monday due to a turbine malfunction.
The fault was revealed to be a failure in the differential pressure measurement of the generator's sealing oil and hydrogen coolant, TVO wrote in a press release, but this has since been resolved.
The firm added that the plant had operated as planned in accordance with safety criteria, and that the incident had no impact on nuclear safety.
The first round of OL3's annual maintenance was eventually completed in mid-May, a delay of over one month.
Getting OL3 back online as soon as possible was an imperative for TVO, especially as the Olkiluoto 1 reactor is undergoing regular maintenance and therefore not generating electricity. OL1's maintenance was due to be completed by the end of May, but the detection of a fault in the generator has led to a delay.
Instead, TVO estimates the maintenance will be completed on 16 June.
The Olkiluoto project has been besieged by setbacks and delays throughout its life span, most notably being commissioned 14 years later than its initial completion date.
