Finnair's earnings declined in the second quarter. According to the Finnish flag carrier, the drop was due to the normalisation of the aviation market following a period of strong demand.
The company's comparable operating result was 43.6 million euros, down from 66.2 million during the April–June period last year.
"Pent-up demand after the Covid-19 pandemic has largely been released and consumer confidence has been low for a long time," Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto said in a statement on Friday.
The operating profit decline was also due to lower airfares and a decrease in passenger loads, according to the company.
Finnair also noted that international conflicts and global political instability contribute to uncertainty in the sector.
