The Perseid meteor shower, one of the most popular annual events for stargazers, will be visible over Finnish skies from 10 to 14 August, according to the Ursa Astronomical Association.
Peak viewing will occur on the night between 12-13 August, when up to 60 shooting stars per hour will be visible.
According to Ursa, Perseid meteors are typically only visible south of Oulu, as the 'nightless nights' of Finland's north tend to affect visibility.
The Perseid meteor shower, associated with the comet Swift–Tuttle, is the only major astronomical event that is visible over Finland during this time of year.
Other notable meteor showers in Finnish skies include the Geminids in December and the Quadrantids in January.
According to Ursa, stargazers do not need to specifically locate the Perseid constellation in order to see shooting stars, as they can appear anywhere in the sky. To ensure the best visibility, the association advises finding a dark, open area away from city lights.
