Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen (NCP) has rejected an application for a real estate transaction in the municipality of Sysmä in southern Finland, reported news outlet Uutissuomalainen.
According to the publication, a 61-year-old businessman of Swiss and Russian nationality applied for a permit to purchase a property. The property was to be used as his holiday home.
The decision, quoted by Uutissuomalainen, said that the applicant works as the CEO of his own company, in a sector that serves military activities.
One of the reasons given for the negative decision is that although the applicant's company is registered in Switzerland, the applicant's dual nationality could oblige him to act in the interests of the Russian government.
The decision has been appealed to the Administrative Court and is not yet final.
