The man who assaulted MP Krista Kiuru (SDP) in Helsinki's Kaisaniemi Park in December has a history of violent, unprovoked attacks.
Yle reported that the man, born in 1990, has been convicted of dozens of crimes, including violent offences.
Additional documents obtained by Yle show that he has assaulted at least eight men and six women since 2013.
His decade-long criminal record includes assaults on shop assistants, medical staff, security guards, police officers and civilians in public spaces.
In 2020, the man was suspected of manslaughter, but there was insufficient evidence to support his involvement in the crime.
In the same year, he punched two men and a woman on a Metro train in Espoo, and then struck a male security guard when he was being detained. The Metro assault was captured on surveillance video, which Yle obtained through a public information request at Western Uusimaa District Court.
Yle has published the footage as it relates to a series of violent crimes committed by the suspect, now being investigated for assaulting MP Kiuru.
In December, the former Finnish health minister said she was punched in her face by a middle-aged man in Kaisaniemi Park while heading to pick up her child.
The man admitted to hitting Kiuru, telling investigators he "swiped" at her because he believed she had called the police on him.
