Finnish parliamentarians are observing a moment of silence on Friday to honour the victims of the war in Ukraine.

Ukrainian Ambassador to Finland, Olga Dibrova, will be present at the plenary session, which begins at 1pm.

The moment of silence will be observed following the Speaker's opening remarks, after which the session will continue as usual.

Monday, 24 February, will mark three years since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

On Thursday, Finnish President Alexander Stubb spoke on the phone with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The two discussed Finland's support to Ukraine and steps for finding a sustainable and just conclusion to Russia's war of aggression, according to the president's office.

Finnish military aid to Ukraine rose to 2.5 billion euros last month, making the country one of the top donors in the past three years.
