Consumer confidence in Finland recovered slightly during April, according to figures released on Monday by Statistics Finland, but the levels remain low.
According to the data-crunching agency's figures, the consumer confidence indicator (CCI) stood at -7.4 in April, having been -8.2 in March and -9.0 in February.
"Compared to one year ago, views on the economy in general brightened somewhat," the agency's report noted.
The CCI is based on survey respondents' estimations and expectations about their own economic circumstances, as well as those of the wider Finnish economy.
In general, respondents reported feeling somewhat better about their own economic situation, with slightly increased optimism for the future — although both metrics remain at a relatively weak level.
In response to views about the wider Finnish economy, consumers were less enthusiastic, with Finland's rising unemployment rate on many peoples' minds.
"In April, only 19 percent of consumers believed that Finland’s economic situation would improve in the coming twelve months, while 41 percent of them thought that our country’s economy would deteriorate," the report said.
The CCI is compiled with data from the Consumer Confidence Survey, carried out by Statistics Finland on a monthly basis. In April, a total of 1,219 people living in Finland participated in the survey.
