This week is off to a sunny and warm start, but cooler air will start to flow in from the north on Tuesday, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI).

Dry conditions are meanwhile raising brushfire risks across large parts of Finland.

A wildfire warning is in effect from western Finland through Lapland and in North Karelia due to prolonged dry conditions. Gusty winds may further accelerate the spread of any fires.

"Northerly winds are gusty and may cause isolated damage in some areas, in addition to hastening the spread of any possible wildfires," meteorologist Iiris Idoko explained.

As the week progresses, the weather is expected to become more unstable. On Tuesday, showers are forecast for eastern and northern regions, while northern Lapland may even see some snow showers.

A low-pressure system approaching from the southwest will bring unsettled weather to southwestern Finland on Wednesday.

Wet weather is, however, expected to ease the wildfire risk as the week progresses, with heavier rainfall forecast for southern and central Finland.
