The world's northernmost Michelin-starred eatery — Restaurant Tapio in Kuusamo, Finland — is closing down.
The high-end restaurant's owners and sole employees, Finn-Brit couple Johanna Mourujärvi and Connor Laybourne, had a baby about eight weeks ago.
The couple announced their plans to close down in an Instagram post on Tuesday, saying they want to focus on family life.
"Johanna and I started tapio with the single goal to win a star as far north as possible, a year ago we achieved our goal with one in the kitchen and one in the restaurant. Not long after winning the star I got news that I was going to be a father and 8 weeks ago we were blessed with the birth of our boy Rasmus," the Instagram post read.
"The energy it takes for us to be consistent and meet standard in the restaurant belongs to our son so we will be closing the restaurant with immediate effect," it continued.
The small establishment is tucked away at a shopping centre more than 800 kilometres north of Helsinki near the busy Ruka ski resort area.
The restaurant only has 18 seats and received a Michelin star about a year ago.
The couple said that while they plan on spending time as a family, they would be open to new opportunities in the future.
The announcement was first reported by newspaper Helsingin Sanomat.
