Tuesday will be the driest day of this week before rain showers and cooler temperatures spread across Finland, according to Yle meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander.
While some showers are expected on Tuesday in areas such as western Finland and from North Karelia to eastern parts of North Ostrobothnia, the weather elsewhere will remain mostly dry.
"Wednesday's weather map already shows more unsettled conditions and rain," said Lohtander.
Rainfall could be heavy in places, and thunderstorms are possible in the north, while temperatures are expected to remain below 15 degrees Celsius.
On Thursday, shifting winds will bring some variation. In western Finland, gusty conditions are possible, and a widespread rain front is likely to move through southern and central regions.
Temperatures in the south and central parts of the country will hover around 15 degrees, while northern regions can expect highs of 10-15 degrees — and in the far north, closer to 5 degrees.
However, there is still a reason to remain optimistic for the weekend, with a high pressure front likely to settle near Finland.
"You could safely say that the rain will ease up over the weekend, and the weather will warm up. There could be widespread sunshine," Lohtander said.
