Finnish authorities suspect that a Russian military aircraft violated Finnish airspace off of the coast of Porvoo on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Defence Ministry.

According to Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen (NCP), an investigation about the incident was launched immediately after it occurred.

The Border Guard is investigating the suspected airspace breach.

Another suspected breach of Finnish airspace occurred last month, when two Russian military planes were suspected of entering Finnish territory off the coast of Porvoo.

That resulted in the Finnish foreign ministry summoning the Russian Ambassador to Finland, Pavel Kuznetsov, for questioning about the incident.
