Kela plans to reduce service points and staff

Finland's benefits agency aims to reduce its workforce by an estimated 150 people per year and replace 28 of its service points with other service channels.

Finland’s Social Insurance Institution, Kela, has announced plans to raise the saving targets of its productivity program.

The agency revealed plans to reduce both its service points and staff.

Kela aims to cut 50 million euros from its operating costs by the end of 2027, up from a previous target of 45 million euros.

The agency said it plans to reduce its workforce by an estimated 150 people per year. Kela also announced plans to replace 28 service points with alternative service channels this year, but has not provided further details.

The benefits agency will continue operating 78 service points.
