Finland's Transport and Communications Agency Traficom has found serious safety issues with four models of children's bicycles. The four models have been removed from sale in Finland and cyclists are urged to stop using them as soon as possible.

The issues were uncovered during a Europe-wide quality control campaign, which tested five models of bicycles found in Finland.

In two of the models, the handlebar stem broke during testing. One bike's front brakes didn't work properly and one of the model's handlebars broke.

The affected bikes are:

  • Jupiter Sweetie 12" and Jupiter racing 12"
  • Biltema 16" Kid Single Speed (pink and yellow)
  • Kayoba 12" (pink and blue)
  • Madison Helmi 16" sold in 2023 and 2024, with the frame's serial number E8059xxxx

Traficom recommends that owners of these bikes stop riding them immediately. Traficom says that companies that sold the bikes should ensure that the bikes are repaired, changed or that customers are refunded.
