The last week of June brings bad news for those looking for dry and sunny summer conditions. Tuesday is particularly wet.
"There will be between 50 and 60 millilitres in a day," says Yle meteorologist Aleksi Lohtander. "Rainfall strengthens over the afternoon and evening."
Temperatures in northern Finland are around ten degrees on Tuesday, and in the south of Finland temperatures are around 15 degrees, according to Lohtander. Sunshine is unlikely to break through the thick clouds.
Wednesday will see the rainfall ease off and move eastwards.
"The weather will be drier for a moment on Thursday and Friday, but temperatures will not change that much," says Lohtander.
A jet stream — a fast-flowing, narrow air current — settled just south of Finland and is to blame for the current weather conditions.
"Finland is just north of the jetstream for the whole week," said Lohtander. "The warmth does not get to move north, but stays on the southern side of the jet stream in central and southern Europe."
That means that the weekend will not bring any respite, with a new band of rainfall expected to move in.
