Finland's flag carrier Finnair has announced plans to cancel around 80 flights on Friday, due to a planned strike by airport ground staff.

If the strike goes ahead, Friday's walkout by members of the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU) will be the second of seven planned industrial actions this month. A similar strike on Wednesday prompted Finnair to cancel around 100 flights.

Friday's cancellations will affect around 8,000 passengers, according to Finnair.

The strikes stem from a protracted labour dispute between the union and Palta, the Service Sector Employers group, which has continued since the end of January.

The parties are scheduled to resume negotiations on Thursday.

If talks continue to be unfruitful, the union has already issued warnings for further strikes on July 7, 16, 18, 21 and 23.

Finnair said it would directly contact passengers affected by eventual cancellations.
