Finland is experiencing widespread warm and sunny weather on Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach heatwave levels across much of the country, according to the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI).

The hottest conditions are forecast in central Finland, where temperatures could climb to 30 degrees Celsius, above the 25 degree threshold for 'hot' weather in Finland. Even in the north, conditions will remain dry and pleasant.

However, in parts of southern Finland, heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop by midday. These could briefly cool temperatures to around 20 degrees.

On Sunday, the weather is set to remain largely similar, with even warmer conditions reaching southern parts of the country.
