A 15-year-old girl has died of injuries sustained in an e-scooter collision with a car in Pirkkala, Pirkanmaa on Sunday, local police announced on Tuesday.
The accident occurred as the girl was riding on the same e-scooter with another 15-year-old girl when they collided with a car at a zebra crossing.
The girl died on Tuesday, police said.
The other girl suffered injuries in the crash, but they were not life-threatening, according to police.
Authorities now suspect the driver of the car of traffic safety endangerment as well as negligent homicide and negligent injury. Police said an investigation was underway to determine whether the driver of the car complied with traffic laws regarding pedestrian crossings.
On Monday, police announced that they suspected the e-scooter's driver of traffic safety endangerment.
Police do not suspect that alcohol played a role in the accident.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Naistenmatkantie and Pirjolantie in Pirkkala, a municipality just southwest of the Pirkanmaa region's capital, Tampere.
