Finland's old apartment prices sink again in June

Some smaller Finnish cities saw prices rise, including in Kainuu, Kokkola and Pori.

Prices for old stock apartments continued to fall in most of Finland last month.

Statistics Finland reported on Tuesday that old apartment prices were down by 1.3 percent in June, compared to the same month in 2024.

Compared to May of this year, prices in June declined by 0.4 percent, according to the number-crunching agency.

Among Finland's larger cities, year-on-year price declines in June were the most significant in Vantaa (-5%) and in Turku (-3.4%).

However, out of the biggest cities, only Espoo saw an increase in old apartment prices, going up by 1.9 percent last month, year-on-year.

During the second quarter of this year, some smaller cities saw increases in prices paid for old apartments. Prices rose the most in Kainuu (+14.8%), Kokkola (+14.3%) and Pori (+6.2%), according to Statistics Finland.

The housing market has been comparatively livelier this year than last, with the number of old apartment and terraced house brokered sales increased by 30 percent in June, compared to the same month last year.

The state alcohol retail monopoly is extending Saturday evening hours at about one-third of its stores, with roughly one in 10 opening on Sundays as well.

Defence Minister Antti Häkkänen (NCP) says that the new version of Saab's RBS 70 system will ensure protection of broader areas of Finland.

The deal means MTV's channels should re-appear automatically on Elisa's Viihde platform and TV cable offerings on Friday, without customers having to do anything themselves.
