A clear majority of Finns support offering security guarantees to Ukraine, according to a poll published by Iltalehti.

The survey, conducted by Taloustutkimus, found that 67 percent of respondents were in favour of security guarantees, while just 10 percent were opposed to them. Nearly a quarter said they were unsure.

Support for deeper involvement is weaker. Fewer than one in five backed the idea of sending Finnish soldiers to fight in Ukraine.

The poll, carried out in August, drew responses from more than 1,370 people. The margin of error was around 2.7 percentage points both ways.

Finnish politicians, including Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, have recently highlighted Finland's own defence amid talk of security guarantees for Kyiv.
