Next week will start with blustery conditions across almost all of Finland.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) has issued wind warnings for Monday for the entire country, except for southern Lapland.

Winds will pick up on Sunday evening, with possible damage along Finland's west coast, according to FMI forecaster Heikki Sinisalo.

Eastern and central Finland face the fiercest winds, where gusts are set to turn hazardous from midnight.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 20 metres per second on Monday. Power outages and disruptions to telecommunications are likely in some areas.

The start of the week also marks a shift to cooler conditions. Temperatures will start to fall on Monday, with southern highs around 15 degrees Celsius and northern highs near 5 degrees, both set to decline further in the coming days.
