Around 40 protesters gathered outside Yle's headquarters in Helsinki on Monday to call on the broadcaster to boycott next year's Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) if Israel participates.
The protest, organised by the Finnish branch of a group called BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions), lasted for about an hour.
BDS is an international movement that opposes Israel's actions in Palestine through various economic measures, such as boycotts.
In a statement, the group said that the goal of Monday's protest was "to demand that Yle joins the boycott and calls on the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to defend human rights".
Last week, public broadcasters from Spain, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Ireland announced that they will boycott next year's Eurovision after the EBU decided to allow Israel to participate.
Yle CEO Marit af Björkesten stated last week that the Finnish public broadcaster does not intend to join the boycotting countries.
"It now looks very likely that we will participate, but one criterion is that there is a convincing number of participating companies. That remains to be seen," af Björkesten said at the time.
